Liberating Word

This guy seems to have a bit of a headache. I cannot recall which church on the continent I came across him, but he is actually supporting the pulpit – the very place where the Word is preached. Ok, the pulpit is made of heavy marble, which would weigh anyone down, but the Word of God is a liberator and this chap is not a very good witness!
I wonder how it is for us, for you? Is the Word, which we find in the Bible, something that is too weighty, too complex? For some the Bible is a matter for scholarly study and interpretation and that is fine, but whether this is us or not, we all need to know that it is the living Word, recognised in Jesus Christ, who we need to know. This is a liberating, life-giving relationship – and no headache!
